The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bhubaneswar conducted a registration programme for the newly admitted BTech students at its Argul campus here on Tuesday.
The IIT Bhubaneswar will run a month-long rejuvenation and orientation (R and O) programme for the students from July 24 and will start with the address by IIT BBS Director Prof RV
Raja Kumar followed by Student Affairs Dean Prof VR Pedireddi and Academic Affairs Dean Dr PR Sahu.
After reporting of as many as 402 BTech students at the institute by 5pm, Prof Kumar said that the intake and number admitted have been significantly raised this year.
He congratulated and welcomed all the newly admitted students and said, “Here at IIT BBS we strongly believe that the admission into the BTech programme is actually the beginning of a challenging and rewarding professional journey which paves way to
the real empowerment of a student in the chosen domain towards an ambitious future, rather than a foregone ambition of getting admitted into an IIT.”
The R and O programme conceptualised personally by Prof Kumar is a very innovative and unique programme aimed at helping the students to change over from the unhealthy effects of the examination centric coaching for the JEE (Adv) test to true education which empowers a student.
A “Know Yourself” programme through online submission of questionnaire would be held from August 23 to 28 along with a Heritage Trip to Konark Temple, Dhauli, Khandagiri, Udayagiri, Ekamra walks and Barunei Hills in the
month of August and September.
In addition, there will be a Fresher’s (Fachakas) got talent” programme on August 11, introduction to
engineering on July 25 and a programme at the Sri Sri University on July 26, 27 and 28. The classes will start from July 29.
