IIM to run from Silicon Institute till 2019

The State Government has decided to locate the temporary campus of Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Sambalpur in the campus of the Silicon Institute of Technology till 2019 in Sambalpur.The Employment and Technical Education and Training (E&T E&T) Department took the decision at a high level meeting held at the Secretariat on Tuesday.

“IIM Indore, the mentor of IIM Sambalpur has preferred Silicon Institute of Technology for the temporary campus of IIM Sambalpur. In a letter to the Union HRD Ministry, IIM Indore has given its preference for the temporary campus and has marked a copy to us,” said E&T E&T Additional Secretary PK Das.He said the mentor institute also listed certain infrastructural requirements for the IIM. We will be very soon providing it, added Das.

The temporary campus will be located in the campus of Silicon Institute of Technology till 2019. If required, the temporary campus will operate from there till construction of the permanent campus is completed.An agreement would be signed between Silicon Institute of Technology and Central Public Works Department (CPWD) in the presence of officials of the E&T E&T Department soon.

The IIM Sambalpur would admit 70 students each year till the fourth year. Classes will begin at the institute from September this year. Five conference halls, Wi-Fi campus, separate hostels for men and women, dining hall, requisite number of classrooms etc. have been asked for the purpose.
