IIM: R'kela locals send 5,000 postcards to PM

After several rounds of demonstration, dharna and bandh, the demand for Odisha IIM was made in a different way at Rourkela by lead Rourkela Team.

Though the State Government has already recommended Bhubaneswar as the venue for the premier institution, the lead Rourkela Team members seem not to have lost hope. As a part of their strategy, about five thousand post cards were written by students, educationists and intellectuals of the city addressing the Prime Minister urging to prefer Rourkela over other options as the location of the Odisha IIM.

The team members under the leadership of Priyabrata Bhanja handed over the post cards to the Head Post Master of Rourkela Head Post Office on Monday. Bhanja said though Rourkela is the only suitable place from all points of view but unfortunately due to certain clause incorporated by the Union HRD Ministry, the State Government got ample scope to use it in favour of Bhubaneswar.

He also blamed the Rourkela MlA and the Sundargarh MP for being unable to put their argument properly with the Central Government. He said to put pressure on the Union Government more and more post cards would be sent in coming days.
