Though delayed, the police have succeeded in nabbing all the three accused involved in the murder of Ghatagaon police station IIC Dillip Sahoo.

Addressing a Press meet here, IG (Southern zone) HK Sharma named the arrested as Kamalakanta Matiyan, a resident of Mayurbhanj district’s Karanjia Gada sahi, Bibhuti Bhusan Nayak of Santagantha, Mayurbhanj, and Santosh lohar of Keonjhar’s Nandapur village.

Kamalakanta was involved in 10 other criminal cases, while Bibhuti and Santhosh were wanted in four and three other cases respectively, Sharma informed. The three had planned to loot two businessmen on the Dhenkikote-Karanjia road on February 22 evening. On being informed, while Ghatgaon IIC Dillip Kumar Sahoo went to nab them red-handed, the miscreants fired at him, leaving him dead near the Deo river bridge, Sharma said.

The police have seized a motorbike, two country-made pistols, three bullets, two mobiles and `35,000 prompt cash from them. They were nabbed from the Keonjhar-Mayurbhanj Border in a joint operation conducted by Keonjhar and Karanjia police led by Keonjhar SP Kavita Jalan. All the accused were produced in the Keonjhar court and later sent to jail custody.
