About 200 contract labourers of Idcol Ferro Chrome and Alloys Limited (IFCAL) here staged a demonstration in front of Managing Director’s office on Monday demanding enhancement of Puja bonus and gift.
Notably, two days back, their leader MLA Pritee Ranjan Ghadai along with a few union leaders had finalised puja bonus at 8.33 per cent rate and gift amount of Rs 2,000.
When almost all the workers and labourers of the plant agreed to it by seeing the plant’s present miserable condition, the dharna was incited allegedly for vested interest, said sources.
On Monday morning, about 9 am, the labourers blocked the General Office till evening.
The officers and workers working in the General Office including HR, Finance, Mines, MD Office, Purchase Office etc were detained without lunch.
The dharna was held even without prior notice either to the plant authorities or the administration and police. DLO Siba Sankar Mishra said that he was not informed.
