Identity Foundation forays into disability sector

Published on:

Bhubaneswar-based civil society organisation Identity Foundation has developed a sustainable model for differently-abled persons through volunteerism. Each philanthropist enrolled with the foundation shall adopt at least one Divyang and share a plan of action for resource mobilisation.

To begin with, 15 philanthropists have come under the canopy of the Identity Foundation, informed its chairman Jasobant Narayan Singhlal and expected many more to join the bandwagon soon.

Former Nalco Head of CC & CSR Anil Bhatt is now heading the foundation. Presenting the working model here on Friday, he urged philanthropists to lose ‘I’ and find ‘Identity in Togetherness’. “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much,” he said, quoting Helen Keller who was dumb and blind herself.

Earlier, the Identity Foundation held discussions with the National Career Service Centre for Differently-Abled, Government of India, and State-run Bhima Bhoi School for the Blind, Bhubaneswar for understanding the issues afflicting the sector and preparing a roadmap for a future course of action.
