IAR sets Mission 2020 for reservation-free India

Published on:

At a time when the Central Government is providing caste-based reservations in Government jobs, promotions and pursuing higher education, members of the Indian against Reservation (IAR), Odisha held a demonstration here on Sunday demanding abolition of the quota system and enforcement of economic-based reservation.

The IAR, Odisha’s General Dinabandhu Sadangi lamented that if caste-based reservation are continuously provided for pursuing higher education and availing jobs and promotions, then it certainly creates an intricate question to understand the legal system of the country.

Sadangi urged upon the people to come up and join its campaign to stop the extension of the period of reservation of seats for the Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) to be given again on January 26, 2020.

As per the Constitution (95th Amendment) Act, 2009, the period of reservation of seats for the SC and STs and representation of the Anglo-Indians in the lok Sabha and the State legislative Assemblies was extended for another ten years till January 26, 2020.

He pointed out that as there are more than 400 lok Sabha members from OBC and General Categories, they can stop the extension but are not doing so. He urged upon the people to keep demanding before the MPs for abolishing the reservation system in 2020.

Mentioning that as many youths are against the quota system, Swami Vivekananda Study Circle executive member Ashish Kumar lenka suggested that the caste-based system should be abolished and reservation on the basis of economic status should be put in place.

He threatened that youths would find out own way to make India free of reservation if the Government doesn’t do it.

Among others, Rudranarayan Sena convenor Sitaram Satpathy, laxman Choudhury, Bidyadhar Nayak, laxmi Narayan Choudhury, Niranjan Sahu, Binay Dash, Deepak Jena, Jagat Jiban Jena Akhaya Kumar Das and Niranjan Nanda were present.
