The flight data recorder (FDR), commonly known as black box, of the BAE Systems Hawk advanced trainer aircraft (A 3492) which crashed at Kudarsahi in Mayurbhanj district on Wednesday, has been retrieved. A 40-member inquiry team under the leadership of Wing Commander Nabin Rana from Delhi reached the spot on Thursday and recovered the blackbox to ascertain the exact reason of the mishap. The aircraft which had taken off from the Kaleikunda airbase of the IAF in West Bengal, presumably developed a technical snag and crashed at Bisoi village. Both the pilots ejected to safety. “The technical team which has come from Delhi has already started inquiry. They will also conduct inquiry on Friday also,” said northern Range IG of Police Asit Panigrahi.
