BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday carried out marathon campaigning for the party candidate to woo voters in poll-bound Patkura.

Thousands gathered to catch a glimpse of the Chief Minister, who waved at them from his hi-tech luxury bus.

“I am seeking your blessings. Please vote for Sabitri Agarwalla. I would personally look after the Patkura constituency,” said Patnaik to the crowd during a road show.

The BJD chief embarked on a marathon campaign for BJD’s Assembly nominee to win the ‘prestige battle’ in the Patkura poll under Kendrapada Lok Sabha Constituency. He began the road show after reaching Barimula area in the morning.

Several Ministers, MLAs and local BJD leaders accompanied the Chief Minister during the road show.

Earlier, several heavyweights in the party had campaigned for the BJD candidate for the polls scheduled to be held on July 20.

The opposition parties, the BJP and the Congress, also intensified the campaign for their candidates, as campaigning will end on Thursday.

BJP leaders, including Union Ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Pratap Chandra Sarangi and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi and a host of other senior leaders visited Patkura to woo the voters for the party candidate Bijay Mohapatra.

Congress candidate Jayanta Kumar Mohanty went door to door for campaigning on the day.
