I helped for a job in SOA: Consultant

Fake consultant Manas Ranjan Nayak, who was arrested by the Commissionerate police on Friday from Puri, made some startling revelations before cops on Saturday.

Nayak said he offered help to the ITER authorities in getting companies for campus selection to the educational institution in return of a job offer at the Siksha O’ Anusandhan (SOA) University, which runs the ITER.

Talking to media at the Khandagiri police station here, Nayaks claimed, “I have not taken a single pie for referring the ITER to different companies and did not play a middleman’s role.”

When asked for how long he knew SOA University Placement Dean Rajkumar Hota, he said, “I knew him only six months before the campus placements at the ITER.”

Nayak denied knowing Delhi-based consultant Rehan, whose name was mentioned in the police complaint filed by the SOA University authorities and who is under the police scanner.

Sources said police suspect that a high-value monetary deal was made for the fake ITER campus placements.

Meanwhile, the police on the day sought a five-day remand of Manas Nayak to unearth more facts. But the court allowed them to take the accused on a three-day remand.

Sources said Manas Nayak had earlier been arrested by the Mayurbhanj police for duping two aspirants of Rs 12 lakh for providing them admission in reputed medical colleges.
