In a broad daylight crime, two motorbike borne miscreants shot at a contractor of Haladia village on Monday morning on the busy Thakurapatana-Gulanagar road near the Derabish block office.
The injured victim at the time was going with his friend in a scooty to attend the Independence Day celebration at the Derabish block office.
According to SP Nitinjeet Singh, the victim identified as Sk Abdullah (38) got gunshot injuries, with one bullet having pierced into the lower abdomen and another into his right thigh. Abdullah is doing a sub contract work in the Paradip-Haridaspur railway line project.
He was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital first and later, shifted to the SCB MCH, Cuttack. He had a past rivalry with three fellow villagers. The miscreants managed to flee the spot.
An FIR was lodged on Monday night in this connection at the Kendrapada Sadar police station and the police registered a case.
Meanwhile, Sadar police have detained three persons.
According to police, Abdullah has close contact with history sheeter Tito. He worked with Suleiman and Hyder as well.
