A team of the Cuttack-based Natural Human Rights Organisation, which had visited Gajapati district to collect facts about the death of women and infants, has alleged that Government officials didn’t cooperate with it in getting the correct data. Organisation members Dr Mitali Mohanty and Sebati Soren said the officials including District Medical Officers didn’t even show interest to say anything about the issue.
They also alleged that the District Medical Officers are responsible for the death of infants and their mothers. The doctors, who were on duty of for the deceased women, neglected their job, they added. When contacted, Gajapati Chief District Medical Officer Dr Narendra Mohan Jena refuted the allegation and said the officials have given necessary data sought by the activists.
