Both the State and Central Governments have schemes for supplying free electricity to the poor but those schemes seem to have failed in Bargarh district.
Hundreds of villagers of Bhalupali village under Bijepur block and Salepali under Bheden block have been debarred from the benefit of free electricity since long. The villagers have alleged that due to the apathetic attitude of the Wesco officials, they have been deprived of the benefit of the schemes.
The villagers have lodged numerous complaints with the Wesco officials and the district Collector but in vain. Finally, they have decided to take to streets if the district administration and the Wesco authorities continue to lend a deaf ear to the problem.
