In a shocking incident, the offerings by devotees were stolen from the Hundi of lord Jagannath in the Gundicha Temple here. An FIR will be lodged by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) in this connection.
Miscreants stole lakhs of rupees by cutting the Hundi, which was placed at the Garudastmbha near the Gundicha Temple’s Jagamohan. The exact stolen amount was yet to be ascertained.
Daitapati Ramachandra Dasmohapatra said, “Action will be taken if the robbera are caught.” SJTA Chief Administrator Pradeep Jena said CCTV camera would be installed inside the temple after discussions with the Chhatisa Nijog and the managing committee. The incident occurred two days after lord Jagannath along with His siblings made their return journey to the Shreeimandir after their stay at the Gundicha Temple.
