On the occasion of the Humara Bachpan campaign’s completion of two successful years, leaders from Humara Bachpan Child Clubs on Wednesday celebrated the day by meeting Governor SC Jamir and Principal Accountant General Amar Patnaik. Children belonging to Science Park Basti, OUAT Farm Gate Basti and Ganga Nagar Basti went with Humara Bachpan Campaign’s national head Preeti Prada to meet the Governor and submitted a charter of demands (CoD).
“I acknowledge the CoD given by the children and would formally look into it and send a note accordingly,” said Jamir while interacting with the child leaders. Similarly, the leaders met Principal AG Patnaik and submitted the CoD enlisted the demands made by the child leaders to make their cities ‘child friendly’. “After reviewing the CoD, I agree with the children. There is an imperative need to incorporate child centric components in urban schemes and policies with adequate participations of children in the process,” Patnaik said.
Preeti Prada expressed happiness over the Government officials for supporting the concept of child led neighborhood planning and giving due priority to children’s perspectives. Around 200 child club members gathered at Mahinshikhal Basti and Salia Sahi Basti to release balloons and celebrate the day.
