The Nesco Shakti Karmachari Sangha (NSKS) on Thursday alleged here that their higher-ups have committed large-scale irregularities in the power distribution sector in Jajpur district, causing huge monetary loss for the distribution company.
The functionaries of the NSKS, a union of Nesco employees, alleged that their officers having nexus with Tata company bungled power tariff in a Jajpur village.
NSKS general secretary Niranjan Padhiary said the Nesco supplied power to nearly 200 consumers of one Gobarghati village, a rehabilitated colony of Tata company, in 2006 under Dubri Sub division of Jajpur road main division. The power distribution company had installed a 250 KVA transformer for the purpose. However, the company neither registered the villagers as its consumers not collected any power tariff from them.
In the last week only, the company authorities learnt about the flaws and took steps to assess the load. It found that Rs3 crore was being charged on the division for a load 450 KW per month for eight years.
Padhiary alleged that The SDOs who were posted hands in glove with Tata company had suppressed the fact. Now, many questions arise as to whether the consumers were paying tariff and how a load of 450 KW was supplied to villagers through 250-KVA transformer, he quipped. Besides, if the company takes legal help, will it be acceptable the court of law and who would bear the litigation cost towards the recovery of the amount, he wanted to know.
“Therefore, a high-level probe should be conducted into which caused huge loss to the discom” he demanded.
