The Commissionerate police on Monday seized a huge cache of firecrackers worth lakhs of rupees in the Jagatpur area of Cuttack city and detained three persons in this connection.
Early in the morning, a team led by Jagatpur police station IIC raided a number of factories at Padmapur, Mahajanpur and Trilochanpur where firecrackers were being illegally manufactured.The price of the seized firecrackers is estimated to be Rs 10 lakh, reports said. Worth mentioning, the Statre Government has banned the sale and use of firecrackers between November 10 and 30 in view of the Covid-19 pandemic. Earlier on Saturday, a joint team of the Badambadi police and Special Squad had raided a firecracker manufacturing unit in Khannagar area of the city and seized huge quantity of handmade firecrackers.
