After long silence, the Maoists established their presence in the Koira region of Sundargarh district again.

A joint combing operation of police, CRPF and SOG at Kalta region on Friday stumbled at 10kg liquid explosives, three landmines of 6 kg, three tiffin bombs (containing 2.8 kg liquid explosives), 60 metres wire and three boosters under a culvert of a road connecting Jhirpani-Toda under K Bolanga police station.

According to Rourkela SP Amitendranath Sinha, the Maoists had a plan for a major operation which is why they were gathering the explosives. Sinha, however, exuded confidence to nab the Maoists soon.

It is to be mentioned that a few days back, the cops had recovered Maoists’ dress and Tiffin bombs from Toda area. Since then the combing operation has been going on.

It is apprehended that the Maoists are again active in Jhirpani, Topadihi and langalkata under K Bolanga police limits. So far, except recovering explosives, cops have not been able to nab ultras.
