The Balikuda police arrested a woman and her lover following mysterious death of the women’s husband in Phakirpada village under Garama Panchayat in Balikuda block.Reports said that deceased Alok Kandi had married Ambika Bhoi a few months back and was residing with his in-laws. But trouble surfaced when Ambika’s lover Dibakar Kandi started visiting regularly Ambika’s house.
Several times both the wife and husband had been quarreling due to unusual access of Dibakar but Ambika had been protecting her lover. Strangely, Alok sustained sever burn injuries on March 21and was shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for treatment in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries on March 31. The deceased’s brother Rajendra Kandi lodged an FIR in Balikuda police station claiming his brother had been set afire by his wife and her lover in order to do away with him. After registering a case, the Balikuda police on Friday arrested Ambika and her lover Dibakar and forwarded the duo to court.
