The Ganjam District Private Bus Owners’ Association has lifted its indefinite bus strike after receiving an assurance from Commerce and Transport Minister Nrusingha Charan Sahu at a meeting held in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.
The association called off its four-day-long agitation after the Minister assured that the buses would continue to ply as usual on the old routes for the next three months.
Association president Tutu Patnaik said informed that further action would be taken after a review meeting.
Patnaik said the bus would continue to ply as usual on the old routes as per the previous timing and before half an hour the bus would go to the new to the Haladiapadar bus terminal and come back to the Brahmapur bus terminal and leave as per the previous timing.
It might be mentioned here that a route chart was issued by the Brahmapur Development Authority (BDA) by which all the buses coming from Bhubaneswar or Andhra Pradesh would go to the Modern Bus Terminal at Haladiapadar directly without entering the city. Besides, the buses coming from Aska and Digapahandi would first enter the city and terminate its journey at the new bus terminal.
The association members had alleged that the new bus terminal has improper infrastructure and security arrangements.
