Senior BJP leader Jual Oram has asked Naveen Patnaik as to how he had gone in for an alliance between his BJD and the BJP in the 2000 and 2004 elections if he knew that the BJP is a “communal” party.
The fact of matter is Patnaik was too eager to align with the BJP at that time to ride on the wave sweeping the country in favour of the saffron party and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, said Oram. Oram, a former BJP State president, was reacting to Patnaik’s statement at the BJD foundation day meeting here on Thursday that the BJD would have no truck with the “communal BJP” or “corrupt Congress” in the 2014 elections. let Patnaik wait for the results of the 2014 polls, Oram remarked.
Similarly, senior Congress leader and Union Minister Srikant Jena, in his reaction, said the Patnaik-led BJD Government is steeped in corruption and Patnaik would know his position after the 2014 elections.
