The State Assembly on Friday formed a House Committee to conduct a probe into the deposit of Rs 545 crore belonging to the Jagannath Temple in the crisis-hit private Yes Bank.
The panel was formed on the Speaker’s direction after the House was adjourned twice over the demand made by BJP members.
As the House met, BJP members urged Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro to form a House Committee to probe the matter. As the Speaker told them to participate in the Question Hour discussion, they rushed to the Well of the House and shouted slogans. The Congress members were on their feet in support of the demand.
Later, the Speaker directed the Government Chief Whip to place a proposal for formation of a committee to look into the Jagannath Temple fund deposits. Accordingly, the panel was formed.
The panel headed by the Speaker would submit a memorandum to the Government of India and the RBI Governor relating to release of the funds from the Yes Bank.
MLAs Pradipta Naik, Bikram Keshari Arukha, Pramila Mallik, Narasingha Mishra, Debi Prasad Mishra, Laxman Munda, Tara Prasad Bahinipati, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Subash Chandra Panigrahi, Mohan Majhi and Pratap Keshari Deb are members of the committee.
