Twin City Commissioner of Police (CP) Dr RP Sharma on Tuesday directed the owners and managers of all Three Star and above hotels in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack to comply with its directive by Friday, failing which stringent action would be initiated against them.
The CP, on November 4, had held a meeting of proprietors and managers of hotels functioning in the twin cities and suggested them to submit their employees’ details including criminal antecedents.
Besides, they were told to install CCTV cameras inside the hotel premises including parking areas, adhere to norms of bar and sound limits and submit occupancy chart to the local police/DCP office/CP office through email/hard copy.
“Today we set November 15 as the last date of submission of the status report from the hotels functioning under CP jurisdiction. Action will be initiated against the defaulters,” said Sharma.
The next meeting will be held with the owners of other hotels, lodges, guest houses, malls and office bearers of the market associations on November 18 to discuss issues pertaining to crime control.
Dr Sharma focused on various other issues too including regulation of parking, entry and exit of people and vehicles in hotels, ensuring proper security measures and registration after getting NOCs from concerned departments like Fire Department etc.
