Raids were conducted on different restaurants, hotels, roadside dhabas, fast-food centers and makeshift shops in Bhograi by Health Department officials after two minors allegedly died eating chow mein from a makeshift shop on Sunday.
The two victims, Anadi Parida (14) of Rasalpur and Saroj Giri (13) of Sunadharbasana village, succumbed in a Cuttack hospital while undergoing treatment.
A team headed by ADMO (PH) Charubala Rath visited Bhograi, besides inquiring into the incidents, carried out the raids on Monday.
“The exact cause of deaths of the two minors are yet to be ascertained. Although it is alleged that they fell sick after eating chow mein from a roadside makeshift shop, the food sample was not available for tests as shop has been torched. However, raids were conducted in various shops and stale foods were destroyed. Sweets prepared with spurious colours were too destroyed,” said the ADMO.
