Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday caught Kendrapada Assistant Horticulture Officer Gouranga Charan Sahoo for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 1,500 from Gouranga Panda of Kalabuda village under the Patkura police station to provide information under the RTI Act.
Panda alleged that he had submitted an RTI application seeking to information on plantation of coconut trees in 2014-15 and 2015-16 in favour of job cardholders in Kalabuda GP under Garadpur block. For supply of this information, the Assistant Horticulture Officer demanded bribe of Rs1,500.
The Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and caught Sahoo red-handed while taking Rs 1,500 from the complainant in his office room. The investigation was in progress, informed an official release.
