A homoeopathic drugs testing laboratory would be established at the premises of the Dr Abhin Chandra Homoeopathic Medical College Hospital here soon.
Ayush Odisha Director Gopabandhu Satapathy said the laboratory would be set up by the State Government under the aegis of the National Ayush Mission.
With the setting up of the laboratory in the city, people need not travel outside the State for testing the standard of homoeopathic medicines.
It would be the second laboratory in the country after Ghaziabad’s Homoeopathic Pharmacopoeia laboratory (HPl). The building construction work has already started in the first phase of the project, for which Rs 3 crore has been sanctioned.
The project would create new job opportunities for the homoeopathic practitioners and researchers in the State. As the entire country is now depending on the Ghaziabad unit, it is taking much time for getting medicine test reports.
After the facility is availed in Odisha, the neighbouring States can also take its benefits, said Satapathy.
