Members of the Nikhila Utkal Gruharakhi Mahasangha (NUGM) have decided to wear black badges during duty time from February 1 to 7, demanding hike in their pay and appointment of re trenched Home Guards.
According to association general secretary Sanjay Behera, the State Government must withdraw false cases lodged against Home Guards during a protest dharna in front of the State Assembly last year.
He also demanded that the State Government implement a series of decisions taken over their demands by the Home Guard DG, the Home Secretary and the BJD Chief Whip on March 8 last year.
“If the State Government fails to fulfill our demands before February 7, we will resort to self immolation in front of the Naveen Niwas,” Behera warned.
