Home Guards evicted from dharna site

The Home Guards sitting on a dharna at the lower PMG here were forcefully evicted by police from their agitation site on Thursday.

The Home Guards were holding a peaceful demonstration at the lower PMG since the last four days demanding fufilment of their demands, including a hike in their salaries.

However on Wednesday, the Home Guards were split into two groups. While one group claimed that the Government has hiked their salaries, the other group denied it and alleged it as an effort by the former faction to sabotage their stir.

The Home Guards have been demanding salary as per a 2015 ruling of the Supreme Court, which states that Home Guards should get remuneration equal to any other regular police personnel.

They alleged that their recent salary hike was not as per the apex court’s ruling or the 7th Pay Commission recommendations.
