The Rajya Gruharakhi Mahasangha demanded incentive and minimum facilities and training for them at a Press meet here on Monday.
For the skill development of the Home Guards, they have to pay Rs1,400. During their training, the Home Guards Director General is not taking any steps to give minimum facilities. “If we protest, the officials are threatening to dismiss us from our posts,” Mahasangha members complained. Though a Government programme, the officials are charging money from the trainees, they added.
Mahasangha president Upendra Mohapatra pointed out that at the time of taking training of traffic police, the Government is not providing food and other facilities.
The members also demanded social security at the time of training.
Mahasangha adviser Jyotiranjan Mohapatra and legal adviser Gyanendra Kumar Tripathy said the Home Guards are entitled to all facilities encouragement from the Government.
“If the Government fails to fulfil our demands, we will stage agitation in front of the State Assembly,” said Mohapatra.
Mahasangha member Diptymayee Rout and Dipty Mohapatra were present, among others.
