The State Government has hiked the monthly duty call allowance of Home Guards to Rs 12,480.

The Government increased the allowance to Rs 416 per day from Rs 300. Earlier, the Home Guards were getting a monthly allowance of Rs 9,000.

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra following directions of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who approved the proposal to hike the allowance of Home Guards.

Earlier, the Supreme Court had expressed displeasure over the low salary of Home Guards in Odisha and directed the State Government to reconsider its earlier decision of paying Rs 9,000 per month
