The Xavier Institute of Management Bhubaneswar (XIMB) held its Foundation Day lecture here on Monday with PepsiCo India Holdings Pvt ltd Chairman and CEO D Shivakumar addressing the students.
Shivakumar shared his knowledge, thoughts, experiences and insights useful for the aspiring managers of the institute. He talked about the importance of education and its role in nurturing the next crop of citizens.
Focusing on the significant need to upgrade primary education, he said, “What unites us is knowledge, what causes disagreement is the lack of it”. Speaking on the changing business environment and growth of entrepreneurship among youths, Shivakumar said a holistic and sustainable approach is needed for doing business.
Emphasizing on the budding startup culture and big businesses, Shivakumar said there should be ‘Big with Small, not a Big vs. Small’ environment; and to attain this, he said, primary focus must be given on the quality of teachers, soft skills to people and building a bouquet of capabilities in future managers.
The event was presided over by XUB Chairman Rajiv Kaul and Vice-Chancellor Prof Paul Fernandes.
