The Ravenshaw Students’ Action Committee on Thursday congratulated the students of Ravenshaw University for their two-day successful bandh against the decision of the university authorities to hold indirect elections to students’ body.
A team including student leaders Natabar Dalai, Rohit Suna, Saroj Mansingh, Somnath Mallik, Aarti Meher, Arjit Prasad Routray and Chinmay Kumar Sahu submitted a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor, demanding holding of direct elections.
The committee also demanded to conduct elections more democratically by allowing the candidates to give speeches in classrooms, to organise open discussions on various topics among the candidates and not to hold any examinations and seminars during elections so as to enable the students to participate in the elections.
