The BJP on Tuesday alleged that the Odisha Knowledge Corporation limited (OKCl) in connivance with the State Government has misappropriated huge Central funds allocated for computer education.
Party Spokesperson Sameer Mohanty made this allegation and demanded a CBI inquiry into the alleged matter. According to him, the OKCl has given Rs 177 crore to a company, which is under scanner of the CBI and facing complaints in Nagaland.
“The State Government has so far received Rs200 crore from the Centre under the ICT programme. Of this, over Rs177.30 crore has been given to the OKCl. The OKCl, instead of doing work by itself, has sublet the project to the Il&FS, against which there are many complaints in Nagaland,” he alleged.
He questioned the authenticity behind formation of the OKCl. “The OKCl is headed by the Chief Secretary and senior officials of the Mass Education Department are its member. However, the Government is terming it as a private organisaion,” said Mohanty.
He said he got this information through an RTI application and the State Government’s revelation to the High Court. He too question why school computer teachers are being paid Rs6,500 per month when there is Central stricture for payment of Rs10,000.
He said the OKCl is unable to provide details about the expenditure and, hence, the Government should order a CBI probe to bring out the truth. He got this information through an RTI application and the State Government’s revelation to the High Court, he futher added .
