A Headmaster of a Government school in Koira block of Sundargarh district was suspended on Wednesday afternoon for selling textbooks to a kawadiwala (scrap dealer).
The accused was identified as Chhanda Charan Singh of the Sargigarh Upper Primary School. The books which come to the school are meant for distribution among the students. He however had sold them illegally.
According to sources, one auto reached the school on Tuesday and while the auto after loading huge quantity of books from the school, was about to leave, it developed starting problem. While a few locals came to push the vehicle to give the vehicle a start, they found huge quantity of books in the auto. On inquiry, they came to know that Headmaster Singh had sold the books.
After coming to know about the misconduct of the Headmaster, Block Education Officer of Koira block Md Shakeelur Rehman and three Cluster Resource Centre Coordinators (CRCC) went to the Sargigarh Upper Primary School on Wednesday morning, conducted an inquiry and found Singh to have committed the offense.
