Hindu Spiritual Service Fair in city in December

A four-day Hindu Spiritual Service Fair would be organised by the Initiative for Moral and Cultural Foundation, Odisha at the Baramunda ground here from December 15.

Noted economist and columnist S Gurumurty informed this at a Press conference held here on Sunday.

The purpose of the conclave would be to weed out a notion that Hindu religion has no tradition of service, humanity and philanthropy.

“Hindu religion is the identity of India. When it is defined in a wrong way, the figure of India is hampered. It has been a conception in western countries that Hindu religion lacks qualities like service, humanity and charity. To weed out this notion, the fair is being organised at different places since 2009,” said Gurumurty. Foundation president Murali Manohar Sharma said 250 to 300 religious and social organisations would participate in the fair. To create awareness on six issues, competitions on science, intellect, drawing, sports, debate and patriotic songs would be held among school students at different levels. A total of 40 competition programmes would be held, he said. About 50,000 students would gather at the lower PMG and sing Vande Mataram to mark beginning of the fair. Similarly, spiritual and cultural discourses would be delivered by noted persons at the fair every day.

Among others, foundation secretary Anil Dhir, vice-president Jeetendra Gupta and national lever worker Sanjay Kumar were present.
