Hike retirement age for pvt sector workers: INTUC

Published on:

The Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) at its State executive committee meeting held here on Wednesday demanded that like the recent hike in the retirement age limit of Government employees, the age limit for retirement of labour employees engaged in private sectors be increased to 60 years.

The meeting, which was presided over by INTUC State president and former MP Ramachandra Khuntia, viewed that most of the employees would be deprived of the benefit due to the six guidelines set by the State Government for increment of Corporation employees’ retirement age limit.  It demanded that retirement age limit of Co-operative and Municipality employees be increases to 60 years by lifting the prohibition. Besides, it also demanded increment of age limit of IV-Grade employees to 62 years.

The speakers also resented over the non-provision of identity cards to the unorganized labourers by the district administration and threatened that the union would stage agitation unless the State Government provides identity card and others facilities to the unorganized labourers.
