A joint raid by the Cuttack and Baleswar police has led to a partial success in busting a crime that took place a couple of days ago.
According to the reports, an edible oil-laden truck from Paradip on its way to Cuttack was missing.
The truck was reportedly hijacked by unknown miscreants near Chandikhol when it was ferrying about 1,895 cartons of edible oil from a production unit at Paradip.
A case was registered in the Kishornagar police station of Cuttack district following a complaint made by the company Nature Fresh Shakti Oil, which refines palmolin oil.
On a tip-off, the police found the abandoned stolen truck near a fuel outlet near Sergarh on NH-60 in the house of Damodar Panda, a resident of Dugapur under the Nilgiri police station in Baleswar district, with 57 cartons of the oil.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Nilgiri Siba Prasad Mallick said, “The truck was hijacked by unknown miscreants near Chandikhol and the consignment was brought to Nilgiri. We found 57 cartons in the house of Panda, who is at large. The case is under the Kishornagar police station and investigation is being made to unearth the racket.”
