As many as 173 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in the State on Saturday, this being the highest-ever single-day leap in positive cases reported in the State. With this, the State’s total tally of corona patients soared to 2,781.
Of the new cases, the highest 64 was reported from Ganjam district, followed by 19 from Jajpur and 13 each from Cuttack and Mayurbhanj districts, 11 each from Balangir and Baleswar districts, 10 from Gajapati district, nine in Khordha district including five in Bhubaneswar, eight in Nuapada district, four in Bhadrak, two in Kalahandi and one each in Puri and Jharsuguda districts.
Of the news cases, 150 are from quarantine centres while 23 are local contact cases.
However, as many as 112 patients recovered from the contagious disease on the day, taking the total recoveries to 1,716 in the State.
The highest 33 patients recovered in Kendrapada, followed by 16 in Balangir, 11 in Jajpur, 10 from Sundaragrh, eight from Jagatsinghpur, seven each from Ganjam and Khordha, four each in Cuttack and Subarnapur, three each from Baleswar, Puri and Sambalpur, two from Nayagarh and one from Mayurbhanj.
