The Covid-19 cases are skyrocketing in capital city Bhubaneswar with a record number of 124 cases being detected on Friday.
With the new cases, the total cases reached 1,043 in the city. Of the 124 cases, 72 persons were under quarantine while 52 were local contact cases, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) said.
The quarantined cases included eight of Nayapalli Trinath Basti, five of Sitapur Basti linked with an earlier case, four of the Unit- 4 fish market, three of the Sitapur Basti quarantine centre, four of Baramunda Telco Colony, three male employees of a private hospital, five employees of a media house linked with an earlier case, nine of Nuagaon Jena Sahi and two of Kargil Basti.
As per the BMC, the positive cases have trebled in the last 15 days in the city. On June 30, the total cases had stood at 320 with 130 active ones and four deaths. While 469 new cases were reported in the last 10 days, the city has registered a total of 599 cases since July 1.
In Cuttack city, nine more persons tested positive on the day, taking the city’s total tally of positive cases to 323 with 135 active ones.
Out of the new cases, four were detected in institutional quarantine, two in home quarantine and three were local contact cases, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation said.
