Class-IX girl Priyanka Priyadarshini Prusty of the Hadagada Navodaya Vidyalaya in Keonjhar district, who was rescued from the Hadagarh dam bed in Bhadrak on Monday morning, later succumbed to her injuries at Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital.
She had been missing from her school for the past two days before being rescued in a severely injured state near the dam and rushed to the Bhadrak DHH. According to sources, she had sustained severe injuries on hear head, waist and legs. Meanwhile, police seized a suicidal note from the dam spot.
Tensions erupted after the news of her death reached her village Bangore where villagers created a ruckus in front of her school. They alleged that the girl took the extreme step due to harassment by a school teacher. The Anandpur Sub-Collector and the Additional SP rushed to the spot and managed to pacify the villagers.
