A day after venting ire against the State Congress leadership, former Chief Minister Hemanand Biswal on Thursday made a U-turn, saying that things are pretty much fine in the party State unit.
“I neither discussed any kind of dissent in the State unit nor did I bring up the topic of change of guard during my meeting with AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi yesterday,” said Biswal.
He also went on to hail PCC president Prasad Harichandan’s functioning.
Claiming that Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi are not in favour of changing PCC presidents, Biswal said they are not in a mood to change the party president in the State.
“They are not in favour of trial-and-error method anymore. They don’t want to repeat the same mistake. Besides, it is wrong on part of some of us to expect the current president to quit. Changing presidents won’t help,” he added.
Earlier in the day, Prasad Harichandan told reporters, “He (Biswal) is a former Chief Minister and a very senior leader. If there is anything troubling him and it comes to my knowledge, I will of course speak to him and try to get it sorted,” said he.
Meanwhile, the party is set to organise a State-wide Dhikkar Divas (Reprimand Day) on Friday against the Central and State Governments.
