A child, declared as an orphan despite the fact that his parents are alive, is receiving doles under Government scheme. The Health and Police department have failed to locate the father and mother who are absconding.
According to sources, the child was rescued from the cradle baby receiving centre of the DHH, Sonepur on Tuesday. It was deserted by his mother in the bus-stand area.
The woman of Redhakhol had illicit affairs with one Siba Prasad of Birmaharajpur in Subarnapur district. Despite protest from their family members, they continued the relation and slipped to Tamil Nadu for some months where they worked in a bricks kiln at Rajkot. later, they returned home. However, Shib Prasad deserted the woman during return journey by rail. The woman who was already pregnant reached Bolangir with the help of an Odia fellow passenger and went to Birmaharajpur. She inquired about Shib Prasad by showing his photo to the locals and later, went to police station for help but to no avail.
After interference of the SP, she got refuge at Birmaharajpur Sudhar home and gave a birth to the child. Under pressure from her family, she left the child in Credel of Sonepur DHH.
As per the reports of Health department, the District Child Protection Officer had intimated the matter to the District Child Welfare Committee. As per the direction of Committee, District Child Protection Officer Chaturbhuja Das has arranged the child’s stay in Sudhar home. On the other hand, the police have failed to locate Siba Prasad and the woman as yet.
