Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday sought Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention for starting construction work of the National Institute of New Energy and Innovation (NINEI) on the allocated land near the IIT, Bhubaneswar at the earliest.
In a letter, Patnaik drew the PM’s attention to the inordinate delay in execution of the proposed institute by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
“Construction of the Institute near the IIT, Bhubaneswar has not yet been taken up despite grant of advance possession of the required land,” Patnaik wrote.
He mentioned that the State government has already allocated 73.68 acres of land near the IIT for the premier institute that is aimed at promoting cutting edge research and development activities in the field of renewable energy.
Informing that the Ministry has closed down its Regional Office at Bhubaneswar, Patnaik urged the Prime Minister to issue necessary instructions for reopening of the office so that the construction work of the proposed NINEI would not be affected.
