The district administration on Thursday imposed a ban on the entry of heavy goods-laden vehicles into Jagatsinghpur town and Alipingala road in busy hours.
An official release stated that the heavy vehicles’ entry to the town is prohibited from 6 am to 11 am and 5 pm to 8 pm daily due to traffic rush and school timings.
Besides, goods trucks and lorries were banned from plying on the Jagatsinghpur-Alipinga Road from 5 am to 11 pm.
The prohibition order has been imposed for 30 days by invoking Section-115 of the Motor Vehicle Act 1988.
Source said that heavy vehicles plying in the Jagatsinghpur municipal areas and Alipingala road in daytime are creating traffic problems. Three days ago, Collector SK Mohapatra had intercepted two goods trucks for disobeying traffic rules.
