The port city witnessed heavy downpours during the last two days with houses in many low-lying areas being flooded. While excess waters flew out of drains and natural water paths, floodwaters entered inside people’s houses in many areas. Steady flows of rainwater blocked road traffic affecting normal life.People living at New Jagannath Colony, Bauriapalanda, Lockpada, Balijhara, Shandakud, Nuabazar Colony and Wards 10, 11 and 12 faced hard times and were unable to go to nearby marketplaces as their entire areas were flooded. Farmlands in Paradip Garh, Bhutamundai, Trilochanpur, Bishwali and Kujang area were inundated. About eight gram panchayats in and around Paradip Garh are waterlogged.
