The Met department on Sunday predicted heavy to very heavy rains for next 24 hours in nine districts — Gajapati, Ganjam, Koraput, Rayagada, Nayagarh, Puri, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack, under the impact of the movement of a low pressure area from Telangana and neighbourhood to north coastal Andhra Pradesh and its neighbourhood.
The latest Met bulletin also suggested that the rains would be accompanied by surface wind of 30 kmph to 40 kmph and gusting to 50 kmph along and off the Odisha coast and that the sea condition would be moderate to rough. Fishermen were advised to exercise caution before venturing into the sea.
