Heavy rainfall to lash most parts of Odisha

Published on:

Under the influence of upper air cyclonic circulation, heavy to very heavy rainfall and thundershowers are likely to occur at most places in Odisha during next 24 hours.

Heavy rainfall coupled with gusty surface wind is likely to lash some parts of the State due to the formation of a low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal on Sunday.

A low pressure area has formed over the Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal, said the Meteorological Department on Sunday. Under its impact, rain or thundershower is likely to occur at most places during next 24 hours.

Heavy rainfall would also occur at one or two places in north Odisha and some parts of south Odisha.

Strong gusty surface wind with speed reaching 35 to 45 kmph and gusting up to 55 kmph would prevail along and off the Odisha coast. Sea condition would be rough to very rough, and fishermen are advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea, informed Met officials.
