The city witnessed rainfall with thunder squall on Saturday evening for the second consecutive day. It brought woes to the lower areas of GGP colony, Jayadev Vihar, Acharya Vihar and other slum areas in the city.
According to local meteorological department, rain and thunder squall would occur at most places over the State, while heavy rainfall may occur at one or two places over Odisha during next 48 hours. Strong and gusty surface wind reaching a speed of 30-40 km per hour may prevail along and off Odisha coast.
