Heavy rainfall likely in 48 hrs in Odisha

Under the influence of a low pressure formed over the Bay of Bengal, most parts of the State would receive heavy rainfall in the next 48 hours, said the local Met office on Wednesday.

Met official sources said an upper air cyclonic circulation formed over the west central Bay of Bengal off south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coast had turned into a low pressure area on Wednesday morning over the same region.

Under its influence, rain or thundershower would occur at many places over south Odisha and at a few places over north Odisha during the next 24 hours. Heavy to very heavy rainfall may also occur at one or two places over coastal Odisha during the period.

Meanwhile, Baripada received the highest rainfall with 95.8 mm followed by Balangir (41), Titilagarh (29), Bhubaneswar (19.1), Cuttack (18.4) and Baleswar (14).
