Vehicular communications to four districts was cutoff after a temporary culvert on the National Highway 59 was washed away in torrential rains here on Monday.
Communication was snapped to several blocks of Kandhamal, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Koraput and Nabarangpur districts after the heavy downpour washed away the culvert near Bataguda on the NH 59.
Sources said hundreds of vehicles are stranded on both sides of roads bring misery for the commuters.Besides, Kawariyas on their way back to home after offering holy water to Lord Shiva at Tumudibandh in Kandhamal district were also stranded. The panchayats of Lankagarh, Jhiripani and Bhandarang were inundated with flood waters causing inconvenience to the residents.
